About this tool

Scale Model Figures is a UK store specialising in 3D printed scale model figures, accessories and conversion parts. The Scale Model Size Converter is our free precision tool for the modelling community — railway, military, vehicle, figure and wargaming modellers, diorama builders and 3D printing enthusiasts — built to remove the guesswork from scale mathematics so you can spend your time modelling rather than reaching for a calculator.

The five converters

Full Size to Model

Enter any real-world measurement — a person's height, a vehicle's length, a building's width — and pick your scale. The tool divides the real size by the scale number to tell you exactly how large the model should be. Use it when you're checking that a figure or kit matches its stated scale, or when scratch-building to scale.

Model to Full Size

The reverse: measure your model, choose its scale, and the tool multiplies up to reveal the real-life size. Use it when you need to know what size vehicle or figure your model represents, or when documenting builds for comparison.

Find My Scale

Enter a real-world measurement and the matching model measurement, and the tool calculates the ratio and suggests the nearest recognised modelling scale. Use it when you've measured a model and want to identify which scale it was built to.

Change Model Scale

Enter a model measurement, its current scale and the new scale you need. The tool gives you the resized dimensions and the exact STL resize percentage to enter in your 3D slicer. Use it when printing a model designed in one scale but needed in another.

Scale Table

Enter one real-world measurement and see it converted across every common modelling scale at once — millimetres, centimetres and inches. Use it to compare how a full-size object looks in N, TT, HO, OO, O and other scales side by side, or print the table for reference.

Frequently asked questions

How is figure height measured?

Model figure height may be measured to the top of the head or to eye level, depending on the manufacturer, so two figures labelled with the same nominal size can differ slightly. Always check the manufacturer's stated measurement convention before comparing scales.

What is an STL resize percentage?

An STL resize percentage is the scaling factor you enter in your 3D slicer to print a model at a different scale. It is calculated as the current scale number divided by the new scale number, multiplied by 100. For example, resizing a 1:32 model to 1:76 means scaling it to about 42.11% (32 ÷ 76 × 100).

What is Scale Guru AI?

Scale Guru is the app's built-in AI assistant, available from the chat button in the bottom corner of the screen. Ask it measurement and scale questions in plain language — conversions between scales, figure height conventions, multi-scale comparisons — and it walks through the maths with you.

Built and maintained by the team behind scalemodelfigures.co.uk. All measurements are converted to millimetres before calculating, and results are rounded to two decimal places. If you have a suggestion or spot an issue, please get in touch.
